safeway checkout banners (epos)
challenge:
how do you keep safeway customers entertained and updated on products, promos, etc. while they wait at the checkout line? animated banners, otherwise known as epos (electronic point of sale), are displayed on each and every cash register monitor within the store. due to restrictions and limitations, these banners have to be animated gifs, within a 9 second time frame, and under 500k in file size.
solution:
created animated banners that grabbed the attention of customers using simple yet effective transitions, while keeping the messages clear and concise. each epos was created using adobe imageready and exported as a gif. because of the file size constraints, many image-driven banners had to be optimized.
